Want to be a delegate at the Texas Democratic Convention?

The Texas Democratic Party has distributed a step-by-step process concerning how to become a delegate at the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

The first step begins Saturday, March 19, 2016 at your Senate District Convention. After you register, you will receive details about the time and place of your convention.

To participate in the conventions of the Texas Democratic Party you must be affiliated with the Democratic Party.

HCDP's Senate District Conventions will take place on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Meetings will take place as follows:

Why is this process so utterly complicated? I would like to know the reasons, especially because the obvious drawback is that this sort of system helps those who are already very experienced with this system, at the cost of turning off newcomers. This may not be the intention behind this system, but it certainly has that effect.

Moreover, it would be interesting to read the story of how this system came to be, on its own merits! (Because it’s obviously very complicated. I’m a lawyer and even I had to slowly read through each densely worded step in the process…)

Is there any chance an explanation could be posted on this website?
